Footer Widget

    Hi,

I remember asking about this before, perhaps.. but still find it extremely difficult to deal with as with most themes they ‘break it into 3’ footer widgets… but with Lens it ‘jumbles’ it and so it’s very tricky to try and set another widget into this ‘mix up’, and almost impossible to get the ‘order that you want’..

ie: The ‘order’ that I see it in the widgets area shows no real ‘order’ to what you see on the website, knowing what I went through trying to get any kind of ‘layout’ of the footer that I could go with makes me extremely hesitant to add anything…

Hoping this issue can be fixed ie: lens being like most others with footers to have 3 separate footer areas for ease of placement.

    Thanks
    Sasha

    Hi Sasha

Sorry to hear you find the footer layout confusing. I do understand the problem – and appreciate the current setup makes it hard to set the site up as you would wish.

Unfortunately I can’t change the footer setup now as changing it will change things for all of the sites that use the theme which will upset a lot of people as their sites will change layout.

    Really sorry about that :(

    Ok, very sad though,,,

Whenever I add things they are very random, also ending up in the middle of the twitter feed.

Also, having been a marketer for most of my life, I also like to help as ‘long term’ you would be sure to have others that would prefer it with 3 separate footer widgets. (As they really are ‘all over’ and it’s a constant ‘shuffle’ to find ‘what you can live with’ and never an ‘order of preference’…

The users could always be notified of a change… ;)

    Hi again,

Discovered another ‘glitch’. in the footer, I use ‘sitemeter’ on my blogs (it’s not javascript etc). It had displayed fine in the beginning. Since I can still view my stats there I didn’t delete the widget.

It was fine for a long while, it’s usually a tiny white and green box, then it ‘disappeared’ from view for an equally long time, now it’s showing as a ‘black box’.. hoping you can fix it?

    Hi, again…

Something just occurred to me with those ‘footer areas’. Couldn’t it be set up that if a ‘footer 2 and 3’ aren’t used it could still display the ‘spread out and randomized’ way? Wishful thinking I guess

A strange coincidence too; as when I first visited your lens forum.. a day or so after it (sitemeter) stopped working (became invisible)..

Now a day or so after I visit again, and it now shows as the little black box… (?) Weird……

Sitemeter is a third party site and so they can change things at any time. Any changes to sitemeter are totally independant of the theme.

Currently for me your sitemeter tracking does not load. I get a page can not be found error :(

The idea to have the ‘jumble’ for a single column of widgets and 3 keeping it straight for 3 separate columns is an interesting one and I will consider it carefully. It may be a workable solution.

    Thanks,

Interesting, as I can click on it still.. (even ‘the area’ when it was totally invisible); and it will still take me to sitemeter all I have to do is log in. Also I do have it set to not show ‘all charts’ to ‘viewers’, but it still should show something general. Oh well; I’ll still keep it as it works for me. I may try and contact their ‘support’ to fix it, as had not realised they had one till the other day.

I’m so glad you’re reconsidering the ‘3 footer widget areas’ as it took me ‘ages’ to get it to display as it does now.. and wouldn’t try to add anything else. So really looking forward to hearing about it :))

    All the best,
    Sasha
