footer & stats
I love Duet Theme…it is almost perfect. Almost. I see that other people have already requested a footer area, and that you seem to not be open to feedback from users about how this limits us. Shame we can’t get a footer widget option. That would make this theme truly perfect.
But is there any chance that you could make a small tweak to the footer are for the copywrite notice, so that we could paste our statcouner or sitemeter code into it. I really miss not being able to have the ability that Statcounter gave me to understand how people are navigating on my site, and then make changes to improve that.
I understand you want to keep the design uncluttered. That’s what I love about this theme. But the statcounter is actually invisible…so it doesn’t change the look or feel at all.
The blog I need help with is www.2sojourners.com.
Thanks for your thoughtful feedback!
Unfortunately, we cannot add stat counters into the site because they usually require JS. We cannot allow arbitrary JS to be added to the site as it represents a security risk. This is a rule for WordPress.com.
Are you aware that WordPress.com has stats reporting in your dashboard? You should check it out. For what it’s worth, it’s some of the best stats reporting I’ve seen for a WordPress site.
Yes, I am aware, as I have been blogging on WP since 2005. And your answer is not accurate, as we can place the html from stat services in widgets. This is normal, and not a problem for WP. So, yes, you can do it…I’m not asking you to create a stat counter, just to make a change in the design of the theme, so that we can do what we already do with widgets all the time.
Thanks for sharing this, Sylvia. We’ll be sure to discuss this idea as a team.
Please note, though, we don’t have any immediate plans to add widget support, but we’ll let you know what we decide.
Thank you for considering it. The best thing about these theme, and I’m sure why most people pick it, is the wide format posts, with the double columns. If I were to enable the widgets on the sidebar, that would make this a totally unusable theme for photography. So, having no bottom widget area means that basically, by choosing this theme, we are denied widgets….it’s really a shame, with an otherwise, almost perfect theme!
Sorry for the confusion!

I wasn’t aware that you were merely trying to add HTML. In that case, you would be able to add it via a widget. I mistakenly assumed that this would require JS, which would not be allowed (it would be removed when you tried to save it).
Sorry for the confusion and thanks for the clarification.
