Footer in Columns
How can I get the footer to be in three columns instead of on top on one another. I want mine to look like the example template and I can’t figure it out.
The blog I need help with is everdaytables.com.
You would need at least one widget in each of the three footer column widget areas to get the three column footer as seen in the demo.
It looks like you’re only using two widgets, and only in one column.
For more information, take a look at the setup document underneath the “Widgets” heading here: https://wordpress.com/theme/spatial/setup

Let me know how that works out for you or if you have any other questions.
Okay I adjusted all three footers and its still stacking and not separating them into columns? Do I need an additional widget for this?
Hmm, can you explain how you adjusted all three footers? I don’t notice any difference since the last time I looked at your site. Did you save/publish the changes?
Still two widgets (search and blog subscription) in a single widget area.
You need to have at least one widget in each of the three widget areas: Footer 1, Footer 2, and Footer 3. So you would need at least three widgets total.
For example, a search widget in Footer 1, a blog subscription widget in Footer 2, and a categories widget in Footer 3.
Does that help?
Sorry, I didn’t publish it. But I just did and didn’t change. I have a search in footer 1, categories in footer 2, and text in footer 3. But they are still stacked.
I see we’re making some progress. There are now two active widget areas, which means the columns split in two, but not quite the maximum of three.
categories in footer 2, and text in footer 3
Unfortunately I’m seeing the categories and text widgets you refer to in the same widget area. Can you double check this part?
You’ll probably have to drag and drop the text widget into the empty widget area (I can’t tell which one it is exactly) and save/publish to see the complete three column footer you’re expecting.
You’re right, I moved the text widget to it’s on separate widget. Now what do I do?
Cool! I was going to say “publish” but I’m seeing three columns on your site now so I guess you’ve already done that.
Anyway, if you’re trying to match the example site exactly you would need the following widget setup:
Footer 1 (the left column): Text widget (currently in Footer 3)
Footer 2 (the middle column): Categories (you already have this)
Footer 3 (the right column): Search (currently in Footer 1)
Does this help?
Thank you SO much!
