    Is there any way, (as I use a background picture) to turn off the ‘background’ for the comments… as it’s quite ‘unsightly’.. especially have no idea why a latest comment is in grey on a solid green background (does not usually do this..) here:

    Thanks, Sasha.

    nb: also, I wish links could be orange or something as I have to do it myself (one by one) as if I try in ‘customize’ it will make many other things orange..?

    The blog I need help with is apanache.wordpress.com.

    Soooooo, since the last time I blogged; I can now no longer even change the ‘link color’ individually.

    Not impressed really. :/

    Oh, sorry, I can the ‘editor’ just seems to be jumping around a bit, and it wasn’t showing up in preview for a while……

    Hi Sasha – thanks for the message.

    Since you have the custom design upgrade I can give you some custom css that will make the changes you want.

    Regarding the comments – do you have a link to a page that shows the problem? The comments seem to have a transparent background so I am not sure what you’re referring to at the moment.

    To make the links orange you can add:

    a {
    	color:#ff9900;
    }

    For all these things you can chose colours on http://colorpicker.com

    Hi, You’re welcome and thanks for your reply.

    Yes, the link I gave above re ‘here:’ when you follow that link, the first comment is on ‘transparent’ and then mine seems to have a background, it continues like that for a bit then you’ll notice (on May 28th Helena Patterson) that her comment is on a green background with grey print (I’ve noticed it on one other page also) Maybe they’ve clicked to reply to my comment instead of ‘just comment’ is what I was thinking, either way, I’d still like it fixed.

    Oh, and that looks great (the css) only I don’t know where to put it..? Never dabbled in css…. I followed your link however, and got the orange color, just what to do with it now? ‘where to put what you’ve typed’…

    I’ve looked at the ‘customize’ section, and when I click on the ‘css’ it states to ‘see how this works, go to http://wp.mePEmnE-Bt*/ ‘ << that goes nowhere..

    I have found a link to ‘css help’ in ‘customize’.. but it’s still all a little much for me to get the hang of.

    do I just type what you did, or is there something that stipulates that it is the ‘link color’… cause then, do I just type it all in the little css box in customize?

    Hi – all you need to do is copy the code I gave you above and add it to the css box in the customizer – it will then apply the link colour across the site.

    Sorry about the comments thing – I missed the link you added earlier.

    To remove the green you can use the following css:

    .main .content-comments ol.commentlist li.comment, .main .content-comments ol.commentlist li.trackback, .main .content-comments ol.commentlist li.pingback {
    	background:transparent;
    }

    combined it will look like this: https://cloudup.com/ct2n3EiEoFJ

    Note that we may need to change the link colour to make it target only blog posts and not every link on the site. It depends what you want to do with it.

    Apologies if I seem a little ‘lacking’ with code…
    So, what you’re saying is the
    a (
    means ‘link’?

    And do I just type all of this ‘randomly’ by itself, like the link info you typed and the comment info into the ‘css stylesheet editor’..?

    I see what you mean, after all that I may just give the comment transparency a go.. and think a little while on what I want to do with the links rather than ‘all links’ (even just in posts….

    Ok,
    Seems to look a little better, with a ‘clear background’ on the comment: perhaps it’s because, as I mentioned earlier it’s a ‘reply’ to my comment or something, the print is still grey instead of a teal type of color..? Also, you may notice the ‘little green lines’ jutting out from some of my comments…

    a stands for anchor – and is what link text gets wrapped in.

    The css box should look as I showed you in the screenshot. You can copy and paste from the forum here.

    If you want to remove the green lines under the comments then you can add the following css in addition to what you have already:

    ol.commentlist li.comment, ol.commentlist li.trackback, ol.commentlist li.pingback {
    border:none;
    }

    If you want the orange to target just the blog content and nothing else then I can give you a more specific css rule that will do that.

    Yes, I can get to that..
    1: Just wonder why the css has to be changed when those ‘green lines’ seems like something that should be ‘ok’ when using your own background (ie: I also may not have custom design ‘forever’…)

    2: Need to change her ‘grey print’ comment still…. (as already mentioned in prior comment, as clear background worked)

    The custom design upgrade will change everything back to the original colours – since the custom colours and custom css are both part of custom design.

    I don’t see the last comment in green with grey text on that link. Am I looking at the wrong thing?

    1: Just your own background (therefore transparent page) is still an option without css. So as I mention, seems that those ‘lines’ are at a ‘Lens Theme’ level and not my own css.

    Helena’s comment is grey at your screenshot, see, not teal as it should be.

    2: A few comments back I said; yes, it now has a transparent backgroud but her text is still grey.

    If you scroll back other peoples comments (apart from my own) are teal type text except this ‘one’

    1) That’s correct. The lines are part of the theme. I’m not sure what you’re expecting them to do though?

    2) I see – I thought you were referring to a grey background.

    You can change the colour of the text with:

    .main .content-comments ol.commentlist li.comment, .main .content-comments ol.commentlist li.trackback, .main .content-comments ol.commentlist li.pingback {
        color: #bbb;
    }

    This will use a lighter grey that is easier to read.

    Alternatively this uses a greeny colour that you’ve used elsewhere on the site.

    .main .content-comments ol.commentlist li.comment, .main .content-comments ol.commentlist li.trackback, .main .content-comments ol.commentlist li.pingback {
        color: #00AFC6;
    }

    Hi,

    1: I meant if I ‘drop the cc /design’ in the future, any fixes would be lost as well.. Looks to me like a bit of a glitch though as why would you want it to be ‘part of the theme’? (As it’s not even on ‘all’ the comments and happens randomly on the first few or so) As when someone uses their own background and transparent, I don’t think it’s a particularly ‘good look’?

    2: Thanks; the green/teal color looks so much better, glad it changed my comment color as well..

    Thanks for the explanation. I think it looks better on the ‘original’ theme since the colours are all set to complement each other. You can see it in action on the demo here: https://lensdemo.wordpress.com/2011/07/07/fusce-neque-enim-cras-amet/

    However I can see your point and shall have a think and see if there’s a better approach.

    Hi, certainly seems fine there of course.. Yes, when people use the transparent option with their own background. I’ll look forward to seeing what you work out for the theme then. :)

    Thanks for your help with this, and the font color looks great.
