(featured) images showing on front page

    G’day guys,

Running Dicot, and very happy with it.

Question about images in posts (not) showing on the front page: I’m going to be pushing a few articles through the site, and as a result they won’t have my images attached – the image and a small amount of text will be from the site I’m linking to.

However, as can be seen on the first and second links on the front page (under the carousel) the image in the post doesn’t show on the front page. I can make them show if I make them “feature” images (as per other posts on the site), but I appear to only be able to do this if I’m hosting the image, and I don’t want to introduce that complexity/storage waste.

However, I need an image to show on the front page for each post in order to maintain the visual integrity of the site, and to actually get people to click on it (as we know, plain links/headlines with no image are pretty much invisible).

So, given I suspect I’m missing something pretty obvious somewhere that I’m hoping you can point me at:

    1) Can I show the post image on the front page if it’s not the designated “featured” image for that post? (Preferred solution)

    2) Can I make an image a “feature” image without hosting it myself?

    3) If not, is this a limitation of WordPress overall, or of Dicot?

    Thanks guys, appreciate your help.

    Hi,

    1) Can I show the post image on the front page if it’s not the designated “featured” image for that post? (Preferred solution)

You need to set an image as Featured image to appear in blog.

    2) Can I make an image a “feature” image without hosting it myself?

No, it will not be possible.

I will recommend to use Featured image. Featured images are widely used in themes.

I hope it will help you.
    Thanksa
