Featured images on Latest News section in React theme

    I purchased the React theme on wordpress.com. Previously, the theme used to display featured images on the “latest news” section of the front static page of the blog.
    After changes to how themes are marketed on wordpress.com, it now just leaves a larger than normal gap. Can this be sorted so the featured image once again appears on the front page in the latest news section?

    Thanks for the response.
    I understand that it is possible to get the featured image to display on the front page using the “projects” footer.
    However, previously the featured images also displayed in the “latest news” footer.
    Am I doing something wrong, or has this feature been removed?

    Hi again!

    Perhaps we’re referring to different areas. Your Latest news footer is the same as the Recent projects footer seen on our demo site. Featured images can be added to this footer by setting a Featured image for each of your selected posts.

    Hi again. I have set a featured image for all my posts, and yes, this did previously show up on the Latest News footer on the front page. However, it no longer does. There is just a larger than normal white gap.

    Hello!

    To clarify, are these three posts in the footer of your site using the Gallery post format? If they are not, please use this format, and let us know if you’re still not seeing these featured images.

    Hi, Thanks for your help again.
    The three posts use the ‘standard’ post format. When I change them to the ‘gallery’ post format, the entire post (image and text) disappear from the ‘Latest News’ section.

    I think we were referring to two different parts of React’s interface. Featured images will not display in the Latest News footer. I’m really sorry about that.

    Instead, you’ll want to set up a Recent Projects footer. To do this, please follow these steps:

    1. Go to Appearance → Theme Options;
    2. Under Layout, change the Show the recent projects footer option to On the front page only;
    3. Click Save changes.

    Then, update your three selected posts to use the Gallery post format.
