MemberNeed help. My featured images on my post keeps appearing as thumbnails. Even after i changed the width x height of the image to the recommended 1280 x 840. I’m resorted to just using pictures in the “add media” function in my post and it just doesn’t look as good. need help!

have you found any fix to the problem?
jazzm8
Memberabsolutely not. i migrated from free publication theme to this theme today. thought it doesnt recognize automatically featured image so i tried manually to upload another feature image, previously deleting the old one – same thing happens.
i hope theme administrator will soon see this image and provide solutions. because we paid for the theme and it does not work as described.
another issue is bad resolution of the header image. i would like to know how to have header image sharp. i uploaded in the dimensions requested with 300dpi resolution, header looks bad.

MemberI have the same ‘featured image as a thumbnail’ issue.
Today is an official holiday in British Columbia where the theme developers are located, so I expect they’ll get back to us tomorrow when they’re in their offices again.

Theme AuthorHey All! Sorry for the wait – I’ve got our development team looking into this today to see if this is indeed a theme bug, if so we’ll be working on getting a fix released ASAP!
Thanks for your patience :)

Theme AuthorHey!
Sorry for the wait, it looks like the .com version of Rainier was developed to show the featured images as thumbnails, which is dissimilar to the .org version of the theme. So for the images we recommend uploading your featured images directly into the post. I’m going to add this to our enhancement list though, to see if we can get another option or this added to the next theme update!
All the best,
newfoundsander
MemberHello Calvin,
I can’t speak for the others but a large overhanging featured image on top was the reason I chose the Rainier theme. Along with the minimalist design and typography, it was the main selling point.
I’m hoping you can fix (not enhance) the issue as soon as possible.
Thanks.

MemberDear Calvin,
ARE YOU SERIOUS?
First I must remind you that your theme is listed as “premium theme item”.
Putting not completely developed theme on the market is your problem not a customers problem.
If I leave feature image empty and put main image manually than my home page remains empty without thumbnails and this looks everything but not premium.I request urgent solution in 3 days time or I request money back.

Theme AuthorI hear ya, guys! We’re discussing this with WP at the moment to see what other option we might be able to come up with here – I’ll hopefully hear back about this early tomorrow and will get you an update! Hoping it’s something you’ll like.
Thanks for your patience :)

Theme AuthorHey all!
I have a final answer, but it’s sadly not the one you’re wanting, sorry! Unfortunately we are unable to make this change within the theme to allow for full-sized featured images on posts. I regret having to say that, sorry! If you’re going to need a theme purchase refund, you can do so within your Purchases section if it is still within the 30 days of purchase.
Once again, really sorry for this limitation, and for any inconvenience this has caused!

MemberHello Calvin,
that is truly disappointing, thumbnails are in no way as alluring as large overhanging images, I will have to look for a different theme.
Do you have any suggestions for another 1 column theme with minimalist design that looks great out of the box, as Rainier does in the promotional material?
I’m already using the Pocket theme on another blog so I’m looking for something different than that.
Thanks.

StaffTo clarify what Calvin mentioned, if you insert a large image into the body of a post and give that post the Image post format (instead of Standard), the post should pull out that image and display it large and overhanging, like the Rainier demo and showcase screenshots. The demo doesn’t actually use any featured images itself.

MemberHello Kathryn,
thanks for your clarification on how to get the large overhanging images by using the image post format. I’ve tested it in a few private posts and it looks great now.
At first I was hesitant to just use images in the body because it might lead to lots of work if I ever switched to a new theme that does use the featured image in some way.
But, looking at the other themes just now made me decide to stick with Rainier, it’s got just the look and feel I’m after.
Thanks!

Staff@newfoundsander: I’m glad that Kathryn’s clarification helped. :) If you have further questions then we’ll be right for you, too.
Hey all,
I’m really disappointed in not being able to use the featured image function because that was one of the features that sold it for me for Rainier. But I guess, we gotta work with what with have. Hope this kinda thing doesn’t happen in the future with Premium themes!
One thing, @kathrynwp, says here that if we change the post format to Image, it would create the large overhanging image? Problem is that my post(write-up) below that image gets lost. Any way around this? Really would like to make use of that large overhanging image function on Rainier.

Hey Kathryn!
Ignore that last request! I manage to fix it! Thanks :)
