Edit header content - search bar & custom text

  1. Hi there,

I'd really like to add a search bar or search button to the header.

And I would like to be able to add a "Learn More" link to the brief description at the top of the page.

I have custom CSS just need a guide on how to do it.

    Thanks!
    Marcia

The blog I need help with is everydayoncanalside.wordpress.com.

  2. Hi Marcia,

There's no way to add a search form to the header menu at the moment but it is a great suggestion, so I may add this in with future updates.

As for adding a link to the site description using CSS, unfortunately, this is not possible. Only text can be added with CSS. HTML (for the link) won't work.

    Hope that helps.

    Sonia

  3. Thank Sonia, for your comments.

I've been trying a workaround by using a Sidebar Search Widget to be only visible on a static page "Search". But it doesn't seem to want to show up.

Is the sidebar/widget only visible on Posts?

    Thanks,
    Marcia

  4. Hi Marcia,

That's correct. Widgets will show up in the footer, the post page and the blog page. Not on regular pages.

    Sonia
