Default featured image on static front page?
Is there any way to make the static front page ‘default’ back to displaying a chosen featured image in the absence of a featured post?
If you have a look at the site, what I want the static front page to look like is just a basic page with a featured image (see the page called Titanium Cranium, accessed via the menu bar).
My suspicion is that this will not be easy to implement, but I thought I’d ask.
The blog I need help with is: titanium-cranium.com
Sorry, it is not possible in the theme.
Am I understanding this right? The image shown on the purchase page cannot be a home page? The reason why I’m asking is I can’t get it to be so and that is the reason I bought this page. I wanted that look to be my home page.
That was my hope as well Lara. the way I got around it was to make one special post with the image I wanted set as a ‘featured’ tag. As long as the rest of your posts don’t use that same tag, the image on your landing page will remain the same.
You can have a featured image on the static front page/home page.
You have to set the Featured Content section. And the Featured Image of the Featured Post will appear on the home and blog page.
So you need to…
1. tag a picture in a post with the word “featured”.
2. Go to Customize → Featured Content and add the featured tag. Anemone supports one post or page in its featured content area.
The theme instructions for Anemone is where I got this info, link https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/anemone/support/
Thanks for that, that is exactly how I solved the problem. What it does not allow though, is to change the featured post without also changing the image in the landing page. This is what I was hoping for.
