    I’m trying to reduce the transparency in the alpha channel of the distracting background box in the showcase video.
    I changed the rgba from “background: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.7);” to “background: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.1); “
    as per below:
    }

    .featured-post .entry h3 {
    width: 400px;
    position: absolute;
    bottom: 40px;
    left: 40px;
    padding: 15px;
    background: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.1);
    font-weight: 900;
    font-size: 25px;
    text-transform: uppercase;
    font-style: normal;
    word-wrap: break-word;
    }

    but when i do this, the text/search and connect portion of the showcase theme loses its previous attributes and no longer are visible.

    Why is this when the only change i made was to the alpha channel of that particular element?

    Thank you.

    Hi, I do not believe that this is caused by the css that you pasted above. The styles that are removing the background on the search is this:

    li.search-form input[type=text],
    #searchform input[type=text] {
    	background: url('images/form-bg.png') no-repeat;
    	border: 0;
    	color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1);
    	font-family: 'Cabin', arial, serif;
    	font-size: 16px;
    	float: left;
    	height: 30px;
    	line-height: 30px;
    	padding: 15px 6px 15px 20px;
    	width: 294px;
    }

    You see that the background uses an image? The url becomes incorrect when you copy it from the original styles and add it to the custom styles.

    Please try removing the background property from this block. and let us know how it works for you.

    I got it. I was replacing the theme’s CSS and it was not able to read the images since and thus it was not displaying them.

    Thanks!
