    Dear Ellen

I purchased the Moka theme yesterday because I was attracted to the Custom Fron Page as advertised under the Theme Section of Word Press. Although I have read all the material you’ve provided and watched the on-line video it would appear that none of the functionalities as described in the videos and or on-line have been available to me )-: I think the problem is that I seem to be stuck in blog default which makes my site look ordinary where as your beautiful three column lay out and sticky post is what I was hoping to buy into. Yet, I am unable to find page template under my setting heading, appearance or widgets. I also read somewhere that Word Press should have been sent me a zip file, which I have not received. Could this be the reason I’m unable to create the beautiful site I was hoping to? Any advice would be most gratefully received. Kind regards, Kathleen. My site is: masterinthekitchen.com

The blog I need help with is: masterinthekitchen.com

    Hi there,
I’m so sorry for my late reply, because of the weekend. I just visited your website and saw that you already set up your Custom Front Page by now. If you need further help choosing the right kind of Zuki Recent Post widget, for each Front Page widget area, please let me know and I will can help you further.

Btw, the zip file will only be send to you, if you had purchased Zuki theme for a self-hosted website (directly on our Elmastudio website). On WordPress.com you don’t need to install the theme yourself, therefore you don’t need the zip file. The purchased theme is automatically available for you to use.

Oh I just saw that your post is in the Moka theme forum. Did you switch between both themes or should we continue the forum support in the Zuki theme forum?

    Hi Ellen

Yes, I decided to switch to the Zuki theme in the end and am very happy with it. A very beautiful design. Many congratulations.

I’ve sent a question to Jeremy from Word Press but perhaps you could help me with one of the functions that I’ve been having trouble with today. I’ve been trying to post four pieces on the front page under Post Content 1, just below the Front Page Full Width Top. I’ve placed the widget Zuki Medium Post in the Post Content 1 bar and filled in the category (Food for Thought) but my posts are not appearing on the front page )-:

I have watched your on-line video in great detail and think I am following the instructions properly – but am obviously doing something wrong. If you would you mind telling me how to rectify this I would be most grateful!

Many thanks indeed and kind regards, Kathleen

    Hi Kathleen,
I’m happy that you like the Zuki theme :) I’m just guessing, but I think the problem could be that you used the category name instead of the “category slug”. If you have a category containing of multiple words the slug is different from the actual category name. You can find the slug name of all your Categories in the list under Posts / Categories.

Alternatively maybe your Featured Images for the posts in the slider are not 1200x800px ? You need to add the right sized featured images in the posts, for the slider to work.

Please just let me know, if this is not helpful.

    Hi Ellen

Thanks so much for your reply. I have been in contact with WP and they advised me to do the same and it is now, I am happy to report, working :-)

Just to let you know I’m happy I bumped into your theme. I’ve been writing Master in the Kitchen for over a year now and trying to find a beautiful platform that can present it in the right way, which I think Zuki does. So thanks for that.

Being German yourself I thought you might find my Author’s Note on German bread interesting :-)

    Hi Kathleen,

thanks so much for your reply, I’m happy that it’s working now :) Yes, I read your post, it’s beautiful and I’m happy that you like German bread so much. I also love it a lot, although I think most standard bakeries in Germany don’t have the home-made type bread anymore. But in organic stores or small local bakeries you can still find wonderful bread here :)

    Hi Ellen

Apologies for late reply – I am actually in Germany right now enjoying the festive season and beautiful Christmas markets :-)

I’ve put up a great Christmas recipe, which you might want to consider preparing for friends or family over the Christmas holidays. I know lamb is not very common in Germany but if you can source a leg of lamb this will taste great. A very traditional take on Christmas cooking. http://masterinthekitchen.com

I also fear that you might be right about German bakeries no longer making their own bread )-: This article which appeared in the nytimes earlier this year sums it all up. http://www.nytimes.com/2014/06/04/world/europe/a-rising-challenge-for-germans-who-live-by-bread-alone.html?smid=tw-share&_r=0

I hope you find some time to have a wonderful and relaxing Christmas with your friends and family and all the very best for 2015 – Frohes Weinachten aus Muenster!

    K
