Connect theme Resume template: need step by step instructions

    What am I missing here?

I am new to templates, but I found instructions re: how to make a Home page using the included template and did that no problem. Same for a Blog page. Now I want to make a Resume page.

I want to make a resume page using the Resume template. I started a new page, named it Resume, and chose Resume from page attributes.

This is where I’m lost. I have a regular page – no areas to fill in with specific information, just a regular page to format myself. What’s the template part of this template?

Chat support sent me to a link w/in a support page that had template code I could copy and paste and then alter (as far as my weak programming abilities will let me). But I could do this on any regular page (and still be as semi-lost).

Isn’t a template supposed to set up the page and let me add my info?

Maybe I’m a hopeless case, but I think I need step-by-step instructions for the Resume template in the Connect theme.

I’d appreciate any help anybody has to offer.

The blog I need help with is bethlandau.com.

    Hello Theblandau,

The resume template has a specific layout, but the content area is left blank to that you can create it as you would like. Most people have unique resumes, so to include a specific layout would really limit the content creation in this area, which is why we haven’t set specific areas to fill in for the template.

I’m assuming you were linked to the code we have used in the demo to edit the content with html. (https://gist.github.com/rezzap/9341026f5ef4af0a6a16) What you can do is simply paste this code into your text editor and then where we have filler text with your own text and it will display as in the demo.

If you have any questions while you try and do this, let me know and I’ll be glad to assist.

    Thank you,

    Rebecca

    Thanks, Rebecca.

That is the code I eventually copied and pasted. But – and I hate to be a pain, but what exactly does the template do if I have to go find and insert a different template/HTML code? I bought this theme because I wanted templates/pre-formatted pages. But — and I know I must be doing something wrong — I’m not getting that. The page I’m getting when I use the Resume template is absolutely the same as the default template (a plain page with no built in formatting).

I’m made a sample page that maybe explains it better.
    Here’s the link: http://bethlandau.com/sample/
Could you (or someone) look at it?

Thanks again (aren’t newbies like me the worst?)!

    Hello,

The resume template gives you the info card at the top of the page, followed by your featured image with title above it and space for content bellow. This is what the template includes, compared to the default template which only has a header image, sidebar and content area.

In all templates, we never include the text, so it is to be assumed that the text in the content area would not be included. The html code should not be too difficult to work with. It would be exactly the same as you inserting code in specific areas, except it is in html.

    Thank you,

    Rebecca
