  The Magnate Express theme that I recently bought has large numbers next to the titles of each post for clicking to read comments. These are shown clearly on my laptop, but not on my iPad.

  Right. I believe, this is by design, to make that space available for your content instead.

  I can live with it, but the big numbers are the only way a reader on a mobile or ipad would know there are any comments to read. Otherwise, he or she needs to click on each post title to check whether there are any comments.
