Changing the word "Portfolio"

    We’d like to change the name of “Portfolio” wherever it appears to the public, to read “Products”, and also change the title “Archive: Projects” to simply read “Products”.

    The idea is, we’d like people who surf from either the customized Primary Menu on the top right of the page to be directed to the “Products” page, as well as having the “View the Portfolio ->” link on the Home page read “Find Out More ->” and also link to the same “Products” page.

    At present, we’ve found how to customize the name of the page in the top right Primary Menu, but can’t seem to turn that actual “Products” page into the equivalent of what the theme is calling “Portfolio”.

    In order to get the “View the Portfolio ->” link on the Home page below the animated Featured Images to actually work, we’re forced to create a second page entitled “Portfolio” in addition to our “Product” page, because we can’t seem to redirect that link. Simply assigning the Portfolio Template in the Page Attributes, doesn’t seem to be changing the status of the page we entitled “Projects” to one which the Home page “View the Portfolio ->” link goes to.

    Can you assist? Help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi there,

    I’m happy to help! Would you mind sending me your url to your site.
    Also, do you have the Custom Design Upgrade?

    Looking forward to hearing from you.
    Have a great weekend!

    Hi,

    Our site is not publicly visible yet, but I’ll be happy to send you an invite to give you viewing access so you can see what we’re trying to do.

    We have the Business Plan, so the Custom Design Upgrade is included with that.

    Another issue we’re having is that the LinkedIn feature is not working in Footer Widget 1, because rather than truncating the link at just “www.linkedin.com”, it appears the link is set at “www.linkedin.com/in/username”.

    Since we of course have a corporate account with them (not a individual one used by applicants), LinkedIn files us under “www.linkedin.com/company/username”. That means that we can’t just add our username (as we’ve successfully done with our Twitter link). So we’ll need a solution for this as well.

    Hi there,

    Here’s how to change the Archives: Projects text: ex: http://lift.d.pr/IXY8/1vqND4AC

    .post-type-archive-jetpack-portfolio h1.archive-title:before {
    content: "Portfolio";
    font-size: 36px;
    font-size: 2.25rem;
    }

    .post-type-archive-jetpack-portfolio h1.archive-title {
    font-size: 0
    }

    You can change the “Portfolio” text to whatever you want to appear there.

    You can change the homepage words by going to Appearance > Customize > Theme > Front Page Settings

    To Change Learn More to View Products (hover): ex: http://lift.d.pr/11sQU/4rFUUvYc

    .recent-portfolio span.view-more {
        visibility: hidden;
        line-height: 0px;
    }

    .recent-portfolio span.view-more:after {
        visibility: visible;
        display: block;
        content: 'View this Product →';
    }

    Need clarification, in the Admin area will you be using the ‘Portfolio’ section for your ‘Products’ or just another page.

    Thanks!!

    To be frank, we don’t really need a separate set of Portfolio pages at all, we just need to have what has been designated on the Home Page point to the respective Product pages, and were unable to find a way to do that, so we literally created a duplicate set of “Portfolio” pages that had basically the same content as our product pages.

    In the future, we might use the “Portfolio” section to break out special “Services” we offer, but for now, we just need a clear through line from the block images of the Product logos on the “Home” page, to the proper software product.

    And we still need to get rid of the “Press Releases & News” section in the purple-colored main body of the “Home” page. https://premium-themes.forums.wordpress.com/topic/home-page-customization-eliminating-blog-posts?replies=1

    That changed the name of the Archives page & the Product hover text very well, thanks.

    Though I’m confused as to why only 3 product logo block images are appearing on the Home Page now, instead of the 9 we indicated in the “Writing Settings” section of the Dashboard under “Your Custom Content Types”.

    Hi,

    You could use the ‘Portfolio’ post type as you see fit. You could use it as ‘Products’. The way the theme currently works is that it pulls from the portfolio section. There’s not currently a way to link to anything else. I can ask my dev team if they recommend anything else.

    Regarding the 3 ‘Portfolio’ items showing on the homepage, that is how it is intended. There was a bug this week that was showing more but it has been corrected and returned back to its original state.

    For more customizations you may try posting here: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization

    Let me now if you have any other questions.

    LOL. Wow, that’s unfortunate. Can you unfix the bug? Prior to this is perfectly showed all the products we wanted on the Home Page. :-)

    Hi there,

    We talked about adding the ability to add more portfolio items to the homepage. At this time, we will not be adding this however we will keep this in mind as a possible enhancement.

    Let me know if you have any other questions.
    Have a great day!
