I do various recordings for my regular blog (this post for example: ( http://johnbalaya.wordpress.com/2013/08/08/cleaning-up-the-old-blogs-flotsum-jetsam-debris-and-detritus/ ) If I view my site with the WP app, or the Safari browser on my iPhone, the audio player shows up.

When I view any of my posts (this, for example: http://poeticallyversed.com/2013/08/11/lucille-clifton-reading-cutting-greens/ ) the audio player shows up just fine on my computer, but, it does NOT appear when viewing posts in the WP app, or the Safari browser — no audio clips on either iPad, or iPhone… just a big, blank space where the audio should be.

The blog I need help with is: poeticallyversed.com

Forgot to add that on my regular blog, the audio shows up on iPad too, in both the WP app, and Safari browser.

    Hi John,
I’m not sure if that’s the theme or just a limitation/bug with the WP app/browser. There isn’t anything in particular (that I can think of) in the theme that would prevent audio from showing. But the audio should definitely be working, so that’s curious.

I’ll look into this in more detail Monday morning and see if I can find an answer for you!

….any word on this? the audio player still does not show on any mobile device….whether using the WP app, or Safari browser.

My primary blog uses the Adelle theme, and the audio player shows up just fine…..

    Hey John,
Haven’t forgotten about you! Can I ask how you’re implementing the audio? Can you send me a sample of the code you’re using to embed it in the post?

I don’t use any special code. I use the Insert Media function. I click Insert Media, select the .mp3 file from my computer, click choose, then it uploads — with the new changes, it defaults to “embed player” so I leave it at that, and click “insert”…

it’s the same on my primary blog, and, I tried a test post on my photography blog, which uses the Ideation and Intent theme, and audio files are inserted the same way, and they appear on my ipad and iphone, with the WP app, and with the Safari browser.

On this post: http://wp.me/p3k1Fx-be , the code string looks like this:
[audio http://poeticallyversed.files.wordpress.com/2013/08/cutting-greens.mp3%5D It looks exactly the same as on my other blog …

So I know it’s a holiday weekend, so no hurry for a reply, but I added a new thread about the bouncing comment field … write a long comment, and the box bounces around, changes sizes, etc…

But, in an attempt to see if the comment box worked any better in Firefox (it does the bouncy thing in both Safari and Chrome), I noticed that yes, the comments bounce in Firefox (I’m running on Mac, not Windows)… but, to the point of this thread…. audio does not imbed at all in Firefox. It shows as a “download link” , then asks if you want to open it, so you can hear it in iTunes…

It seems to me that this theme is getting buggier, rather than better, and as much as I love this theme, it’s making me crazy, and I am almost past the date where I can return it for a refund…..

PS … as today was my 30th day, I requested a refund, so the theme is no longer active on my site.

As I am trying to build my blog around an audio theme, the fact that the audio player does not work in Firefox, or on mobile devices makes the theme not workable for me. Actually, it makes me look bad, as people will assume that I forgot to add the audio, rather than the fact that it’s a Theme or WP issue.

If you get this issue resolved (and get the comment box issue resolved … see this thread…

    http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/comment-section-funkyness-for-lengthy-comments?replies=6#post-1413174

(as well as comments on some of the recent blog posts)

If these issues are resolved, please let me know, as I might repurchase this theme, as I think it’s by far the best looking theme around here …. but, as I said above, the bugs in the theme make it irritating to use, to read, and, ultimately make me look bad, as people tend to think I’ve done something to create the issue.

    Hi John,
Sorry we couldn’t make Publisher happen for you. I didn’t initially see your thread about the comment jumpiness, as it wasn’t in the Publisher forum. I’ve submitted a fix for this that should be live shortly.

As for the audio, that’s still something that’s eluding us. I don’t have any reports from other users that the audio isn’t working, and we have audio in both the default Publisher theme and the mobile theme seen here: http://cl.ly/RA0a.

As long as you’re adding mp3’s, selecting the Embed Media Player setting and making sure the shortcode is fine, you should have audio! I’d have to look more closely at your admin to see what was going on.

I’ll be sure to post anything we find in the mean time.

I appreciate the work you’ve done on it … and, I wasn’t trying to hurry you along, per se. It’s just when you only have 30-days to get a refund on a theme, the consumer (me) gets stuck between wanting to wait to see if you get an issue fixed, or ending up being stuck with a theme that doesn’t work. So, I decided to go for the refund while I still could, because I can always repurchase once the audio issue is fixed.

I do QA testing for a living, so before reporting something, I try a variety of things, just to be sure that I’m not doing something dumb (which has been known to happen from time to time.) :-)

As for the audio embed, it works on my iMac, and on my Windows laptop… but, not on my iPhone, or iPad (with the WP app, or the Safari browser). My partner has a Droid phone, (Galaxy), and when he looks at the posts, the audio only randomly appears — sometimes it’s there, sometimes not.

A friend of mine who uses a Samsung tablet has had no issues with the audio. (I’d take a screen shot and show you, but, one, you can’t attach them here, and two, they already refunded me the theme price, so it’s not active right now.

As for the comment fix — I figured that wasn’t a big deal to fix, and glad you’re doing an update.

Again, I really appreciate all the help you’ve given me, and I truly love this theme. I’ve never actually loved a theme before, I’ve always felt sort of ambivalent about them all, but this one just looks fantastic. So, if you can get it working for me, I’ll get out my credit card again! :-)

The only other thing I noticed was that the scrolling in Safari seemed a bit jumpy again, not as jumpy as the first time, but, not as smoothly as it was after you pushed the first fix.

If you get the audio thing working, please post and let me know!

Again, thanks so much for all the help. You guys really do have some of the best customer support around ….
