add new gallery to galleries page

    I’m trying to post this http://gtkovacsphotography.com/2015/08/29/doors-in-ystad-3/ not as a post in my blog page but as another gallery here http://gtkovacsphotography.com/galleries/

    I’m stuck! What do I need to do to create a new gallery in the galleries page?

    When you edit your galleries page, do you see this post as one of the “Available Items” to add?

    Sorry, no. I don’t see any “available items”.

    At least not on my ipad using Safari or Chrome or Opera Coast.

    I shall try on my laptop using Windows 7 and will post back.

    You’ll also want to make sure you’re using the “classic” page editor you can access by clicking on the WP Admin link in your site management screen. If you try to edit your gallery with the new blue page editor, you won’t see those additional options.

    When I go to: Pages>> Galleries >> Edit page >> Edit Gallery >> Add to Gallery, I see no posts, only images.

    Sorry for the confusion, you do not edit a gallery in the media library. Rather when you edit your Galleries page, in the Gallery Page Options metabox (on the right side of the page editor), drag items from Available items to the Drag items here to add them to the page section. All video and gallery posts will be available for inclusion in your gallery.

    I start at http://www.gtkovacsphotography.com (Hosted by WordPress, by the way, not self hosted).

    I then select WP admin.

    From there, to “pages”.

    I think that’s what you said earlier. It looks different to the edit page I get If I start with the galleries page open and click on the pencil symbol to edit that page.

    I would send screenshots if I could see a way of doing that.

    Bingo!

    Sorted. The problem was that in editing the “galleries page” I needed to open up “screen options” at the top and then check “Gallery page options”. This then showed all I needed.

    Next question: Can I make the individual galleries show in random order?

    Great!! So glad we figured that out!

    For your question — you can drag and drop the gallery items around (on that same page), but there’s no way to set it up to display randomly.

    Thanks for your help. I’m sure that the gallery page was sorted randomly before the upgrade. Not everything is an improvement, sadly.
